We (mostly me, to be honest)have been really fascinated by mug cakes since seeing them on Pinterest and last Friday, on a lazy morning at home (A has Fridays off this year) decided to give it a try. I had this pinned and Anya chose the confetti one from the options we had. It is super simple and the only tricky part is the number of minutes you give it in the microwave as it varies depending on the strength of each model. We found out that its best to be safe and heat it in 30 second bursts on high, to make sure you don’t overcook it.

Anyways this one that we made tasted okay; the ones we made later on tasted much better but sadly we only have pictures from this day :p It did not taste bad at all with a scoop of vanilla icecream though! As soon as I took a bite I was reminded of my mom and transported to this memory from my childhood; We lived for almost a year or so in a two-room apartment called a ‘shelter’ (basically temporary housing till there was accommodation available) in Karachi one time.  And during this time because of the lack of oven or even kitchen for that matter, my mom used to make cakes in the microwave oven. Soon enough these cakes became so popular with all of our friends from the building. Love how random things can spark cherished memories!

Just thought I’d share because this makes the perfect little afternoon treat/activity to do with your preschooler.

Also this recipe that we tried later was amaazing specially when you add a little nutella to the mix 😉

Thanks for stopping by. Lots of love.
